Students don't ask much from their university bar - just a chilled drink, served in a clean glass - which can be achieved with the right equipment in place.

Students expect choice, style, cleanliness and efficiency to keep them coming back to their university bar or pub and all of this can be achieved with having the right equipment to hand.

A pub or bar's clean reputation can easily be influenced by the hygiene evident in its glassware. No matter how stylish the glassware, nobody wants to drink from a dirty glass, which is why it is so important to have a good glasswasher behind the bar. If there's space, then a large warewashing machine can be used for dishes as well as glassware whilst an undercounter glasswasher will ensure a quick turnaround of clean glasses.

"Deciding on a unit,is primarily a case of working out what you want the machine to do and how hard it's going to be working for you before you go out and spend money from your capital equipment budget", advises Bob Wood, Managing Director, DC Warewashing & Icemaking Systems.

Cocktails continue to prove highly popular - a good ice machine will be used for all kinds of drinks, not just cocktails, including soft drinks and shorts. The right ice machine will depend upon an individual bar's requirements. Think about the positioning of the ice machine too.
